Janill I. Magano (Apr 23, 2008):
We Filipimos must first improve our lifestyle (e.g. eating less and walking more; throwing less and recycling more) because enviromental policies alone will not do us any good.
michael (Apr 27, 2008):
We Filipinos should not just rely on our leaders to implement changes. We must ALL act for changes.
allan (Apr 27, 2008):
Since we really can not depend on our own government system due to some unreliable accounts, we the citizens of the Philippines should act first. We nee not to eat less but we need to be disciplined in eating, we need not to throw less yet we need to be responsible on our own trash. Short-cuts will be a long-term problem for us. ACT NOW!!!
jukey (Sep 06, 2008):
Come on, a population of 90 million? No science can support that any persuasive speech or book or tv specials cannot achieve such environmental goal – or any goal.
Political and economic motivation to create policies of incentives and deterrence will have to be established.
That is how the world works and has been working eversince. How do you think the scandinavian states do it?
Joey Kakilala (Sep 09, 2008):
To improve our EPI, effective governance should be emplaced. Our leaders should be statesmen. They should focus on the general welfare, rather than personal interests. We are already trailing far behind with other countries. I hope we all realize this. Yes, we can do it! There are many Filipinos who are successful in their fields in other countries. Why can’t we do it at home? I’m posing this challenge to all of you.
glenn (Oct 07, 2008):
Eating less is not a viable option for some of our countrymen who doesn’t even have enough to eat. Awareness of environmental concerns for the Filipinos is I think one way we may improve the Philippine’s EPI index (if indeed that is our goal). Both the private and government sectors can do something it through education and information dissemination. Heck, if the rich people really care about the country’s environment the least they can do is sponsor some ads in print or broadcast media and dessiminate some info about the state of our environment.
guerdon (Oct 08, 2008):
our position on the EPI is actually better than i expected. i do not know how much of the data was honest, but i guess we still have enough “unsullied” parts of the country. the problem is i think our index in on the decline, especially with the gaping problem in the implementation of our environmental laws. it’s of course very important that we do our part individually, but i hope our government also takes time to do THEIR part as well, and not just in creating laws, but in correctly implementing them.
Michael (Oct 28, 2008):
I am with an agreement with the thought that the Government has its part to play in the cooporation of increasing EPI. I feel we the people have to right to have environmental sustainability with the help of the people we give money to. It is of course important to have the people of our county on the same page.
JUNDY (Oct 29, 2008):
Philippines has one of the most comprehensive Environmental Policies in Asia and the World. However, in terms of implementation, its another story. We need to further strengthen implementing arms most especially the LGUs. Cities should compete in terms of Environmental Performance and give priority to the Environment. Think of clean water, better sewerage system, clean vehicles, effective garbage/waste collection treatment & disposal. Its time to ACT MORE with LESS TALK. Filipinos should also do their own initiative & not rely merely to the government.
rhea (Sep 11, 2009):
I will speak on behalf of the whole youth…
The betterment of our environment realy depends on the people living on it. From small things wasted to big things ignored. We are not surrounded by nature, but we, we surround the whole environment.Let us turn it green..we could do more as citizens. Let us protect our environment.
